Bow Tie Lurker

I lurked....and I'm so glad I did!  The other day I saw something that caught my eye on sister's blogroll, this tutorial to make a homemade bow tie.  I just had to try one.

It was so easy I made the components for 6 of them in different fabrics, I didn't have enough pins or patience to fold them together to actually make them all look like a bow just yet, so  for now, Elijah has just one ready to go and he wore it to church on Sunday.

All ready to go to his "Sunday School" class...aka nursery but with a very dedicated teacher who prepares simple baby-sized lessons!

Bow tie is almost flopping off, but you can check out the two bottom teeth which are making a big appearance.

I highly recommend trying your hand at one of these bow ties for a little sweet boy in your life!

Elijah is 5 months!

Our little sweetie is 5 months old today! Elijah is such a sweet and fun baby and this month we notice just how much he is getting interactive! It's really fun to watch him now grab and explore new things, even things we haven't handed him. He even has one pair of pjs that are pretty brightly colored and he just keeps staring at them and touching his clothes all over when he wears them. He also LOVES standing up (with us holding him) and his two bottom teeth have come in. Elijah hasn't tried any food yet, but that's probably next on the agenda to do.

Elijah is super smiley and loves to laugh and is very ticklish under his arms. He moved nicely to a 4 hour schedule a few weeks ago and was taking 2-3 nice long naps every day, though these days has returned to taking only 45 minute naps again :( We're not sure what to do about that! Elijah makes friends everywhere he goes and we just love this boy like crazy! 1 more month until he's on his way to 1 year old...crazy!!!

0/6

0/6 that's what I am when it comes to rolling. Elijah has now officially started rolling from back to front. He's done it 6 times in the past 3 days and I have missed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! I swear he waits for me to leave the room and I return to find this...

Oh well...go Elijah! Maybe you will show off for your momma one of these days.

In other Eli news, 2 chompers have come in.
He hasn't started on food yet, but he likes to teethe on cold carrot sticks. It won't be long now until you're chowing down on a big ol' steak now that your chewing equipment is installed!

Jeyson-less Week

My week without Jeyson almost done. It actually went relatively fast and wasn't a big deal really, but we really did miss him! Jeyson took the camera with him so I don't have an new pictures. However here are a few for the fun things Elijah and I did to keep busy:

- Made Easter bread and brought it to our neighbors.
- This was my first really successful year!
- Stopped by the park for a few minutes on a swing for the first time for Elijah.
- Discovered that it is hard to swing on a normal swing with your 4 month old.
- They are just not solid enough for it yet and it feels like they're going to flop off.
- They really need to bring baby swings down here!
- Went out for lunch with my friend today at a new restaurant.
- Enjoyed the food but hated the customer service!
- The food was worth it though and I'll definitely be back with Jeyson.
- Got orange chicken salad and crispy flat bread...yum!
- Got a call from Jeyson on a satellite phone in the middle of nowhere...so fun!
- Got a mosquito stuck inside our house and we keep getting bit! I can't find that guy but he can sure find me!
- Got tickets to the States!
- Got a wet swaddle on my hands due to leaving it on the line to dry right now and not realizing it had started raining. BOO!!! Not sure if it will dry before Elijah goes to bed!
- Got to figure out a back up plan!
- Got cinnamon rolls in the oven right now to bring to an Easter brunch tomorrow.
- Got to go before they burn!

Our Weekend

We had an awesome weekend! Here's what we did:

- Friday we went out to a new KFC type place in town with our friend Lauro and Rose. We'd been wanting to go for a while and just hadn't had a chance. There's nothing like it in town so it was fun to get a little taste of the States. It was lots of fun and we ate a whole bucket of chicken, fries, and lots of soda.

- 10 minutes after finishing, my stomach as killing me! Way too much grease and fizz.

- Lauro and Rose came over after and we all drank tea to settle things down and chatted.

- Saturday morning Jeyson went bike riding on some trails around Anapolis with friends. Elijah and I relaxed at home.

- Saturday afternoon we all hung out together relaxing and ate Pad Thai for lunch.

- In the evening we dropped Elijah off with our friends, Fabio and Vanessa, and we went out on a date. Vanessa never babysat before...ever. In fact Elijah's was the first diaper she ever changed! But Fabio was very confident since he's taken care of younger siblings and cousins. We felt very comfortable because Vanessa is studying to be a doctor so we knew he'd at least be alive when we came back. They had lots of fun. Elijah was sleeping when we arrived and they even took videos of them all playing. Too bad Vanessa doesn't have to get hours of practical experience for the pediatric class she is currently taking :)

- Sunday morning we went to church and had a very challenging Sunday school message.

- Sunday afternoon Jeyson's parents came over and I made a fish dish and coconut pie.

- Right now the day is winding down and Jeyson is getting ready to leave for and 8 day trip to various tribes. We're going to miss him!!
